Blower motor cleaning means removing the blower assembly from the air handler, cleaning the blower wheel and housing, and cleaning and lubricating the motor where it’s designed to be lubricated. A dirty blower wheel moves less air, makes the motor run hot, and is one of the most common reasons blower motors fail early.

Why a dirty blower is a problem
The blower wheel has dozens of curved fins. When dust and pet hair cake onto them, the wheel moves much less air, even at full speed. Rooms cool unevenly, the system runs longer, and the motor works harder and runs hotter. Over time that heat shortens the motor’s life.

- Shut off power and remove the blower assembly
- Clean the blower wheel, fins and housing
- Clean the motor and lubricate it where designed
- Check the capacitor and electrical connections
- Reinstall, then check speed, amperage and temperature
